I wrote a post looking at the prognosis for a possible election and looking back, the Tarot is not to be sniffed at indeed. Although it is really a tool for analysis rather than prediction - at least if you are not fully psychic and completely open to spirit - there is a definite ability here to predict the future we would otherwise not fully be able to grasp. The symbolic aspect leaves interpretations open, but these cards do resonate - one reason being the presence of the Ten of Swords in May prompted a reason to look back at this spread because of the presence of a decisive card.

JANUARY - 2 CUPS - Loving union, teamwork.

Chances slim. Gordon will be wanting to consolidate and develop his agenda rather than cut and run.

This is based on the prospects for Labour, but Gordon needed to start cultivating the party as poll results began to fall again dramatically.

FEBRUARY - TEMPERANCE - Balance, harmony.

Gordon has begun to balance the books and although still slightly wobbly, he is beginning to get going on something major.

Having to hold the fort in the face of declining ratings but nothing happening significantly to upset the status quo, either for or against the Prime Minister.

MARCH - 7 SWORDS - Ego, internal politics.

Trickier time with things finely balanced. Gordon is beginning to overcome internal issues in the Labour Party - and squeeze his way past any other problems.

The beginning of difficulties - however still a balance and still stealing away any significant momentum from the other side.

APRIL - THE LOVERS - Soul mate, decisions.

An auspicious time with most of the previous problems overcome. The most likely time for a snap poll to be called.

Decisions, indeed - the difficulties of choices, represented also by the Lovers, as things turn sour in the McBride scandal and the Budget, which was not well-received by a media now increasingly turning off again. However underlying reasons for less concern, which is why this represents a strong union in adversity rather than a falling apart...

MAY - 10 SWORDS - Healing, second chance.

A positive spin on a card which is usually negative. Second chance doesn't bode well but looks like this is the most likely time for an election despite the European elections due a month later.

...such as what we all now know happened in May but were loath to predict.

The rest will be covered as and when they come to pass, but The Tower's presence suggests a disruption still definitely to come, so watch this space.
